Wedding After-Parties That Turned Into Something The Wedding Planner Never Put On The Schedule

The Speeches Were Done. The Confessions Were Just Starting.

The formal speeches ended at 9. The informal ones — the ones no one asked for, delivered at increasing volume between midnight and 2am — those are the ones people are still quoting in group chats six months later. There was one speech in particular, delivered poolside, that has been described by witnesses as “legally actionable,” “kind of poetic,” and “the reason I no longer attend weddings.”

The person who gave the speech has since moved cities. The person the speech was about has not acknowledged it publicly, which — honestly? — says everything. Someone’s fiancé heard it secondhand and canceled a brunch. That’s the part no one talks about.

The Wedding Planner’s Invoice Had A New Line Item: ‘Incident Coordination’

She sent the invoice Monday morning. It was itemized. “Incident coordination (post-midnight): 3.5 hours.” No further description. The couple paid it without asking questions, which honestly tells you more than the invoice does.

She posted a blind item on a wedding planners’ Facebook group — names redacted, city redacted, venue redacted — and got 847 comments, mostly from other planners saying “been there” or asking increasingly specific follow-up questions. One commenter said she knew exactly which wedding this was from the phrase “the ice machine situation.” The post has since been locked. The ice machine situation remains unexplained.
